It was held in Naples, Italy, following the Italian victory at the previous 1964 edition. Ireland made its debut while Sweden returned and no country withdrew. Belgium, Finland, Germany and Spain each scored "nul points" for the second time. Italy has won the Eurovision Song Contest twice.
