A grant from the Manteo Rotary Club partially funded the purchase of the Pioneer Valley Books Literacy Footprints, a differentiated guided reading system for Manteo Elementary School. Created by teachers for teachers, Literacy Footprints is a complete guided reading system cocreated by literacy experts Jan Richardson and Michele Dufresne. Literacy Footprints is a Guided Reading system designed for classroom teachers, intervention, ELL, Special Education teachers, and support staff who are teaching children to read and write. Each of the kits (kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth/sixth grade, and the Intervention Partner) contains sequenced, high-quality leveled texts in a variety of genres. Michele Dufresne takes you through the steps involved in a Literacy Footprints lesson.
